1940 Grey Iron, One Dozen (12) U. S. Sailors In Original Box

1940 Grey Iron, One Dozen (12) U. S. Sailors In Original Box

Superb unsold store stock of one dozen identical cast metal, hand painted U.S. Sailors manufactured by Grey Iron. Never played with they come complete in their original store inventory box with all seven original inserts.

Each cast lead figure has a solid navy blue uniform including cap and rifle. Facial features and hands are tan-pink type color and hand painted. The bases are rectangular. They're referenced in O'Brien's as G65 (catalog number 14). Although structurally identical, O'Brien's photo shows the figure with colored leggings and cap. This grouping of 12 is specifically "H14" as stamped on the side of the box. I couldn't find a reference for this specific coloration. Paint is all factory original without any touch-up's or repainting.

The box is a light brown, heavy card stock paper with hinged lid and interlocking side flaps. The original marking of "1 DOZ" and "H 14" is stamped on one of the side flaps. Black marker notations which indicate the retailer's buying price were written on the same flap. It contains all seven original separator inserts (4- top hat shaped dividers, 2-strip dividers, and 1-layering divider). The original factory paper seal is still on the box.

Size: 3¼" tall.
